AFP Honors Its First Treasurer of the Year
Franklin Electric's Michael Butchko
Bethesda, MD – May 30, 2007 – The Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) proudly announces its first Treasurer of the Year Award goes to Michael Butchko, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary of Indiana-based Franklin Electric.
"The Treasurer of the Year is someone who demonstrates integrity and honesty, embraces innovative and strategic initiatives – a true leader and advocate in the finance and treasury profession," said Jim Kaitz, CEO and President of AFP, "and Michael Butchko possesses all of these qualities and much more."
For the past eight years, Mr. Butchko has been essential in the transformation of Franklin Electric, taking the global manufacturing company from a market cap of approximately $400 million to over $1 billion. Over that time, his responsibilities have grown to include corporate governance and legal risk management adding to his already demanding role as Treasurer. Furthermore, Mr. Butchko’s strategic vision has been critical in the acquisition and successful integration of six companies. Colleagues say he is a role model for members on his team and his innovative ideas are an inspiration to others.
AFP awarded Michael Butchko the "Treasurer of the Year" at this year’s Global Corporate Treasurers Forum held earlier this month in Washington D.C., sponsored by Citi.
