Global Treasury Certification offered by Chinese Bank

The Association for Financial Professionals’ Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) Certification Enters China as Leading International Corporate Treasury Credential

December 11, 2008 – Bethesda, MD – The Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) is pleased to announce its first Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) training at the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), made possible by a strategic partnership between AFP, Coinage, and the Kaplan Financial Group.

"The CTP continues to set the global standard for the finance profession, and we are very excited about the opportunities in China," said Jim Kaitz, President and CEO of AFP.

ICBC is the first major Chinese commercial bank to offer CTP training. According to Mr. Zhang, Fu Rong, Executive Vice President of ICBC, treasury professionals are in great demand in China, and this shortage "can become a bottle-neck for the whole financial sector."

In China, Zhang says, the CTP training and certification are part of the whole process of "building a modern financial organization" and "establishing a great talent development platform." In China, he says, "Treasury professionals are expected to be familiar with different industry sectors and business models, to design and deliver customized banking service based on the different characteristics of business."

Based on the curriculum established by AFP, the coursework will include: financial accounting, financial analysis, financial planning, liquidity management, investment and financing decision-making, risk management and other key areas of treasury management.

CTP training will initially be conducted in Chinese, though employees with strong English may sign up directly into English CTP training and certification.
